Do not fly solo without an  instructor until you have achieved BMFA 'A' certificate status

New members should decide which club they are going to join before buying equipment  - especially radio equip- because different clubs use certain transmitter modes.  Instruction at our club is only available on 'throttle right stick' whilst other local clubs may use another mode.  You really need a transmitter made to suit your instructors mode.  At Dagenham we expect new fliers to provide a Futaba transmitter with 'buddy box' connection to match our instructors equipment.  Club officials will be happy to give advice on equipment to newcomers. All fliers require an 'A' certificate to fly solo.
